University of Saskatchewan Dental School Requirements

The University of Saskatchewan Dental program is one of ten dental programs in Canada.

In 2021, the UofS dental school acceptance rate was 12%. Of the 280 undergraduate students that applied, only 34 were admitted into the program. Applicants must maintain BOTH of the following conditions for any course work during the year of application: a minimum overall academic average of at least 75% AND a minimum 70% average on any pre-requisite course.

Your top two years of postsecondary work completed as a full-time student taken during Fall/Winter Terms will be used in this calculation. 

Courses taken during the application year will NOT be included in the academic average calculation.

Your DAT results are valid for a period of three years up to November of the year of application. Over the years, the minimum accepted DAT averages fluctuate for applicants considered for an interview:

  • Saskatchewan residents: 17.33 (2018), 17.00 (2017) 17.67 (2016)
  • Out of Province applicants: 18.00 (2018), 21.00 (2017) 19.67 (2016)

University of Saskatchewan Dental School Interview:

MandatoryBy Invitation

A personal interview is required of all competitive applicants annually. Interview selection is based on the academic average of the TWO best academic years of study and the single best overall DAT score. The interview will be conducted in an MMI format.

Offers of Admission Decision:

Offers of admission will be given out according to the following formula. 

  1. 65% GPA: average of the two best academic full-time years of study
  2. 15% DAT: ⅓ Reading Comprehension, ⅓ Perceptual Ability, ⅓ Academic Average
  3. 20% Interview
