LECOM Dental School Requirements

LECOM Dental School Requirements: Prerequisite Courses

All students applying to LECOM dental school must have completed at least a minimum of 4 academic years of undergraduate study (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours). They must include the following courses:

*A semester credit hour is an academic unit earned for fifteen 50-minute sessions of classroom instruction with a normal expectation of two hours of outside study for each class session. Typically, a three-semester credit hour course meets three 50-minute sessions per week for fifteen weeks for a total of 45 sessions. LECOM will also accept Advanced Placement (AP) credit for prerequisites and electives upon review by the admissions committee.

LECOM will accept Pass/Fail grades for courses taken in the 2020 and 2021 semesters.

100 hours of Dental Shadowing are recommended but not required for acceptance to the program. Shadowing is, however, a requirement for consideration.

LECOM Dental School: Letter of References

ECOM requires two (2) core science letters of recommendation submitted to AADSAS. You may submit two (2) core science letters of recommendation from undergraduate or graduate college/university core, science professors.

However, in lieu of the two (2) core science letters, LECOM will accept a pre-professional committee letter to meet the requirement.

AADSAS Personal Essays

This University may take into account the AADSAS personal essay you submit to the ADEA. Your personal statement is a one-page essay (not to exceed 4,500 characters, including spaces, carriages, numbers, letters, etc.) that gives dental schools a clear picture of who you are and, most importantly, why you want to pursue a career in dentistry. LECOM Dental School: Suplemental Application

LECOM requires all applicants to submit a LECOM Supplemental Application. Once LECOM receives the AADSAS application, qualified applicants will receive an e-mail message providing information and instructions regarding how to complete the Supplemental Application.
