*A semester credit hour is an academic unit earned for fifteen 50-minute sessions of classroom instruction with a normal expectation of two hours of outside study for each class session. Typically, a three-semester credit hour course meets three 50-minute sessions per week for fifteen weeks for a total of 45 sessions. AP credits and community college coursework for both prerequisites and electives are accepted by this university.

CDMI will accept Pass (P)/Fail (F) grades for prerequisite courses if the P is equivalent to at least a C grade. A grade of C- is not accepted. CDMI understands that at some institutions, a P is equal to a C- or higher. They will only accept a P equal to a C- or higher if courses are no longer available for a letter grade and the P/F system is the only option available at that institution.

College of Dental Medicine Illinois: Letter of References

A minimum of two individual letters of recommendation is required for application to this school.

One letter must be from either a pre-dental advisory committee or a science professor. The other, preferentially, should be from either someone with a DO/MD, DDS/DMD degree and/or someone who can testify to the integrity and ethical standards of the applicant.

Letters written by immediate family members will not be accepted. All letters of evaluation must be submitted directly from the evaluators. The Office of Admissions will not accept letters submitted by students.

Your personal statement is a one-page essay (not to exceed 4,500 characters, including spaces, carriages, numbers, letters, etc.) that gives dental schools a clear picture of who you are and, most importantly, why you want to pursue a career in dentistry.
